John P. Pickens ,MD
Dr. Pickens is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a 1983 graduate of the James H. Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee State University.
He completed preliminary general surgical training at East Tennessee State, followed by completion of a residency training program in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at West Virginia University College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident in 1992-93.
He received the Sobisca S. Hall award for Research in Otolaryngology in 1992.
In 1992 he completed a mini-fellowship in endoscopic sinus surgery and facial plastic surgery with world-renowned surgeon Dr. Mark May in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. After completion of Otolaryngology training in West Virginia, Dr. Pickens served a year of additional residency education in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Pickens is Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
In 1998 Dr. Pickens established Mountain Regional Ear, Nose and Throat, PA-Facial Plastic Surgery to provide care to the entire Westrn North Carolina Region.
Dr.Pickens enjoys playing and listening to live music, fly fishing, and most sports.
